At Amarok Yachts, we strive to carve extraordinary ideas into tangible designs. Our passion lies in bringing the dreams of our clients closer to reality, crafting vessels that are not only a testament of luxury but also embrace sustainable practices. One such remarkable project taken on by Amarok Yachts was the Avalon. A solar electric luxury catamaran designed for one of our major clients ‘Navalt’.
UNDERSTANDING THE SIGNIFICANCE OF EFFICIENCY
Navalt approached us with a clear vision – they sought a brilliant design for a zero-emission solar electric luxury catamaran that was going to be efficient and would change the future of tourism in India. Having understood the importance of efficiency and the need to make something out of the ordinary, our designers eagerly got on board with the vision to create something that had never been created before.
Efficiency is at the heart of any zero-emission vessel. To be truly eco-friendly and sustainable, a vessel must be highly efficient which will in turn help operate the vessel with minimal energy consumption. Understanding the vitality of design and requirements we set out to create something remarkable.
THE DESIGN
Our journey towards designing the Avalon began with gaining a deep understanding of their requirement. We collaborated closely with them to grasp their idea behind the vision for Avalon, a vessel which would sail gracefully on solar power, embodying cutting-edge technology and a commitment to sustainability. One of the key challenges while designing the Avalon, was to ensure that it could be produced on a large scale while also ensuring it was budget friendly.
Our designers embarked on a thorough research process which involved coming to the idea that Avalon would be a vessel which would offer a fresh perspective, distinctive from the tourism boats usually seen in the backwaters of Kerala, catering to family leisure trips and creating an enjoyable environment for all.
The design process began with the initial sketching phase. It was ideated that the Avalon would have a unique cuboidal shape, which would set it apart from conventional boats used for tourism. Breaking free from traditional norms, the exterior of Avalon boasts an extraordinary appearance that immediately captures attention and intrigue. After the initial sketching, our designers stepped into the process of 3d modelling. The exterior is designed to be nothing short of a luxury catamaran, embracing elegance and simplicity, it shatters the confines of ideal designs. Sleek lines run through the sides of the vessel, offering a glimpse of the remarkable experience that it promises to deliver.
When you step inside the Avalon, you’ll be treated to an interior that exudes comfort and luxury. Throughout the interior strategically arranged seating spots provide spaces for passengers to enjoy. While you step inside, you can see a c shaped lounge that can accommodate up to 3 people, with a table at its centre, while another straight lounge to the right of the entrance comfortably seats three more. At the back of the vessel, an expansive C-shaped seating lounge can accommodate up to nine people, with a table at its centre.
Each seating area inside the Avalon, opens into a lush scenery. This thoughtful placement allows passengers to fully immerse themselves in the beauty of their surroundings, making ‘Avalon’ the perfect vessel for leisurely family trips. The dashboard of ‘Avalon’ is strategically positioned at the front, offering the operator an unobstructed view to steer the boat through the water.
THE AVALON – OUR FIRST STEP INTO SUSTAINABLE VESSEL DESIGNING
Avalon is the embodiment of an uncustomary and exceptional vessel design, showcasing the perfect fusion of innovation, sustainability, efficiency – all at the same time catering to a limited budget. Spanning a total length of 9×3.3m, with a top speed of 7 knots, the boat can accommodate up to 15 passengers with an electric motor of 8kW and a range of 45km, it not only offers an unparalleled experience to its passengers but also stands as a beacon of hope of a greener, more sustainable future in the maritime industry.
At Amarok Yachts, the design process behind Avalon was more than just creating a solar electric vessel, but an opportunity for us to contribute to a greener and more sustainable future for the maritime industry.
